Connor Cook lands on Panthers practice squad

Connor Cook's heading from west to east, in hopes of keeping his NFL career afloat.

The former Michigan State quarterback was signed to the Carolina Panthers' practice squad, the team announced Thursday.

Cook was a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2016, but has been unable to secure the backup job behind Derek Carr and was released on cutdown day last weekend.

Cook appeared has appeared in one career regular-season game, and started the Raiders' playoff loss to the Houston Texans in 2016.
