EAST LANSING — Coach Tom Izzo said Cassius Winston is expected to return after a one-game absence and play for No. 16 Michigan State as Big Ten play resumes Thursday night against Illinois.
The senior All-American point guard missed the first game of his career Sunday in a 95-62 win over Western Michigan, ending a streak of 121 games and 56 straight starts. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Detroit native is averaging 17.6 points and 6.1 assists in a team-high 31.1 minutes a game this season.
