DETROIT - Zach Thomas is a biomedical engineering major at Bucknell.
In addition to leading the Bison in scoring and rebounding, the forward is working on a senior project to design a device to stabilize the coronary artery during bypass surgery. Thomas hopes he will still be playing basketball at this point next year but knows his degree will pay off down the road.
The player he will likely be matching up against on Friday night is Michigan State freshman Jaren Jackson Jr. He is widely projected as a lottery pick in this summer's NBA draft and has a multi-million-dollar payday waiting for him if he leaves school after just one year.
