Birthplace of Michigan State football's 'Dream Team 16' is New Jersey

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Many know that New Jersey is the birthplace of college football, with Rutgers and Princeton playing in the first college football game in 1869.

Michigan State fans also know New Jersey to be the birthplace of the self-named "Dream Team 16," the highest-rated MSU football recruiting class since the various rankings came into existence.

It started on Aug. 1, when four-star receiver Cam Chambers, of Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, N.J., chose the Spartans over three dozen other schools a week after visiting MSU and Michigan on the same weekend.
