A disastrous 2016 for Michigan State football means redefining success

Two Big Ten titles in three years with a combined record of 36-5.

Victories in the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl and a trip to the College Football Playoff.

Those were the credentials Michigan State touted heading into last fall.

Then all that forward momentum slammed into the brick wall that was the 2016 season. Only one Big Ten win in a 3-9 season for the program's worst record since 1982 followed by an ugly offseason of attrition, including four players kicked off the team and facing criminal sexual conduct charges.
