Derrick Nix Arrested and Suspended Indefinitely from MSU Basketball Team

An email just came through telling us that Derrick Nix has been suspended from the Michigan State University Men's Basketball Team indefinitely.

From Tom Izzo in the statement, "He has made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy."

As reported by Joe Rexrode in the LSJ, Nix was arrested last night on charges of operating a vehicle with the presence of drug and marijuana possession.

Most fans and analysts would agree that Nix was going to be a large part of the success or failure next season for MSU.  He made great strides to fight through adversity of his freshman and sophomore seasons to become one of the best sixth men in the Big Ten in my opinion.

Most had penciled him in as the starting center next year assuming he would progress similarly in this offseason as he did last year and this past season.  Nix does have a track record of not wanting to give MSU Basketball his all as evidence by him almost leaving the team last season.

This is really a great way to sour everybody's mood about the team heading into the offseason.  Thanks, Nix.  You stopped every positive column about you and the team from being written over the summer.
