The tall tales of 6-foot-3 Miami forward Ilia Morozov began on campus this summer.
He was 17 years old, finishing up a class before he could officially be enrolled. He wasn’t able to partake in organized activities with the team.
That didn’t stop him. Being on his own in an unfamiliar place was nothing new to the freshman from Russia.
He introduced himself to people and organized drills on the ice every day. After, he’d head to the student center to work out. He was everywhere, whether on the climbing wall or in the pool.
He found a way to work.
