Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit his 47th homerun of the season on Thursday, a solo long shot to center that was also his hardest-hit homer of the year.
The homerun, which gave the Marlins a 2-1 lead over the Phillies in the third inning, traveled 424 feet and blasted off Stanton’s bat at 115.7 mph, according to Statcast. It was Stanton’s 14th homer in August alone, seventh against the Phillies this season (most against any opponent) and his 47 is the most by a National League player before September since Ryan Howard in 2006.
Because how else would @Giancarlo818 hit the 100-RBI mark?
