Miguel Rojas sidelined with thumb injury

Marlins utility infielder Miguel Rojas will be sidelined with a broken thumb, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

Rojas is the latest Miami player to go down with an injury. Martin Prado was also recently placed on the disabled list.

Rojas, 28, was having a productive season, so much so that manager Don Mattingly gave him starting time over shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria. Over 24 games this season, Rojas is batting .338/.389/.400 with four RBIs.

With Prado down, Rojas was likely the favorite to start at first base. Now, Derek Dietrich could be a candidate to receive the majority of the playing time.
