Miami Marlins Win First Game of Second Half, Gain Momentum

There is no chance for the Miami Marlins, 6-5 winners over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night and now 42-57 on the season, to make the playoffs. But there is enough of a resume the past 41 games (20-21) to think this team could play spoiler for other organizations looking to get to the postseason.

Per MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro, Derek Dietrich’s second career multi-home run game accounted for four runs. Miami also got seven strong innings from Dan Straily, his fifth straight quality start in the victory. Reliever Adam Conley got his first save of the season.
