Miami Marlins option Steve Cishek to Double-A

Miami is prepared to give Steve Cishek time to adjust. The Marlins announced they optioned the former closer to Double-A Jacksonville after Monday's 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Cishek, 28, had success last season as the Marlins closer, posting a 3.17 ERA and 2.17 FIP in 65.1 innings. However, he has had a rough start to the 2015 campaign, posting a 6.98 ERA and 4.23 FIP in 19.1 innings. Cishek opened the season as the Marlins' closer before the club opted to have A.J. Ramos begin closing games. His most recent appearance came on Sunday afternoon against the Mets when he allowed the go ahead run in a one run loss to New York.
