In what looked to be a day for the Marlins to salvage the final game of this weekend’s series against the Boston Red Sox, Massachusetts weather would have other plans.
No less than 25 minutes after the slated first pitch of 1:10, the game would be called due to inclement weather, with heavy rains making for a 49 degree Sunday afternoon. Per the Marlins Twitter account, the game will be made up on Monday, June 7th, both originally scheduled off days for the respective teams.
Having lost the rain-shortened series opener 5-2 in 5 1⁄2 innings on Friday, the Marlins got 6 gutsy innings of two-run ball from Trevor Rogers - who scattered 9 hits - on Saturday, though they would fall 3-1, dropping their record to 24-28.
