Marlins rally for seven unanswered against Nationals for win after Scherzer leaves with injury

The Marlins only had to deal with Max Scherzer for one inning.

Lucky for them.

The Marlins rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the Nationals 7-6 after Scherzer, who flirted with a no-hitter the last time he faced them, took himself out with neck spasms after pitching one inning.

And it was all due to a bad night’s sleep. Scherzer complained that he “slept funny” the night before taking the mound at Marlins Park.

It all worked out in the end for the Marlins.

But it didn’t start so well for them.

Scherzer launched his first career home run, a three-run shot off Chris O’Grady, in the Nationals’ six-run second inning.
