Marlins’ offense struggles in an effort to get above .500 mark in loss to Phillies

A day after smashing six homers and totaling 27 hits in a doubleheader, the Marlins managed only two hits and four total base runners in an ugly 8-0 loss Wednesday night. Not even slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who leads the league with 46 home runs, could get the team on board, going 0-for-4.

Through the first five innings the Marlins managed only one baserunner when Marcell Ozuna walked in the second inning. Shortstop Miguel Rojas eventually broke up the Mark Leiter Jr.’s no-hit bid in the sixth with a double down the left field line, but could not be brought home.
