Giancarlo Stanton hit the big five-oh.
The 27-year-old slugger for the Miami Marlins walloped his 50th home run Sunday, becoming the 28th player in Major League history to reach the milestone.
Stanton’s two-run shot off Padres pitcher Clayton Richard in the 8th gave the Marlins a 4-2 lead in their bid to sweep San Diego. Fans at Marlins Park began chanting “MVP! MVP!”
The blast put Stanton in rare company.
He became the first National League player since Prince Fielder in 2007 to hit as many as 50 homers.
