Right-hander Jordan Yamamoto confirmed to Fish Stripes on Tuesday that he is being called up by the Marlins. This will be the 23-year-old’s first stint in the major leagues.
Yamamoto has spent the 2019 season in Double-A Jacksonville with solid results: 3.58 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 64 K in 65.1 IP. Overall, he owns a 2.69 earned run average in 134 regular season innings since joining the Marlins organization in the Christian Yelich trade.
Already on the 40-man roster, there will need to be a corresponding move to fit him on Miami’s active roster.
