Marlins announce 20% capacity at home games and Twitter had some GREAT jokes

Unlike in 2020, you will have the opportunity to watch the Miami Marlins in person this season, CEO Derek Jeter confirmed on Monday. The team is still finalizing its best practices to mitigate COVID-19 concerns and awaiting the WELL Health-Safety Rating, but beginning on Opening Day, Jeter says the Marlins Park staff will be able to accommodate up to 7,500 fans (approximately 20% the facility’s pre-pandemic capacity).

During the 2019 season, announced attendance fell short of 7,500 at nearly one-third of all Marlins home games. Motivating fans to show up has been a challenge for most of the franchise’s existence—several factors have contributed to that, mainly non-competitiveness.
