Marlins and Jeff Brigham Fall to Max Scherzer and the Nationals

It was the same old story for the Miami Marlins. Poor pitching combined with a dominant pitching effort by the opposition led to another road loss on Tuesday night. This time, it was a history-making performance that did Miami in, with a 9-4 loss at Nationals Park.

Marlins starter Jeff Brigham once again could not find any rhythm on the mound, giving up walks and an early home run that sealed the visiting team’s fate. All the while, Max Scherzer became the 17th MLB pitcher since 1900 and sixth since 1990 to reach 300 strikeouts.
