Runs came at a quick pace Tuesday night at Marlins Park, as the Marlins opened a three-game weekday series versus the San Diego Padres. Combining for seven runs in the opening two frames, Brian Anderson’s three-run blast set the tone early, leading Miami past San Diego, 12-7.
Jordan Yamamoto, returning to the mound for the first time since the All-Star break, breezed through the first inning. He struck out Fernando Tatís Jr. and Manny Machado, a Hialeah native.
“Besides the second, I thought Jordan was good,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said postgame.
