From looking at the players who earned spots on my 2019 Marlins All-Minor League team, you can tell that the correlation between MiLB production and MLB potential is not super strong. You’d prefer to see top prospects leading their affiliates to wins and receiving accolades from their respective leagues, but there’s obviously a greater objective in mind. Once elite talent emerges, player development staffs must do everything possible to optimize it for eventual major league success, even if that process comes at the expense of conventional stats.
That being said, I understand the fanbase’s curiosity.
