The Miami Marlins announced that Caleb Smith will make his Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday. He’ll start against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Smith is recovering from a surgical procedure to repair his left lat muscle, torn in June last season. He logged around 60 pitches in a simulated game on Friday, and was blessed off as “ready to go.”
Initially drafted in the 14th round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft by the New York Yankees, Smith rose through their minor league system for four seasons before making his major league debut in 2017.
