Rolling to his left, Carson Beck completed a pass to true freshman Malachi Toney inside the five-yard line and the American Heritage alum ran it into the end zone for the first Miami touchdown for both to put the Hurricanes ahead 7-0 in the second quarter.
Beck added his second TD with a 20-yard strike on an incredible strike to C.J. Daniels, who made an improbable diving catch in the end zone to give Miami a 14-7 lead. The drive shortly before halftime came immediately after Notre Dame tied the game at seven.
