Virginia’s defense has been the best in the country all season. The first half against the Miami Hurricanes was no exception. Miami shot 21.4 percent from the floor and made just two of their 12 three points attempts in the first half against the Cavaliers.

Virginia complemented their dominant defense by making 10 of 22 from the floor and four of nine from three-point range. The Miami Hurricanes were better in the second half, but they were not able to overcome their poor shooting first half.

The Hurricanes opened the second half with a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 29-26 early in the second half.
