Where former Hurricanes running back Gus Edwards will land next season remains a mystery.
But on Tuesday morning, there was plenty of speculation about his future after Mike McAllister of Scout.com reported Miami was blocking Edwards from transferring to a school on the Hurricanes’ 2017 schedule. That would keep Edwards from playing for either Syracuse or Pittsburgh, two programs in the Northeast, relatively close to his home in Staten Island. Both programs recruited Edwards out of high school.

In the past, it has been Miami’s policy not to grant waivers to athletes transferring to schools the Hurricanes are set to play in the coming season, Miami athletic director Blake James said Tuesday.
