In February, Canes Warning asked if Irvin would emerge as the next great Miami Hurricanes tight end. This spring, Irvin, II has certainly taken strides towards becoming a Hurricane tight end great. The Miami Hurricanes have favored tight ends in Mark Richt’s first two years as head coach.

In 2016, David Njoku finished third on the team in receptions with 43, receiving yards with 698 and second in touchdown receptions with eight. Njoku was named All-ACC honorable mention and was chosen in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft 29th overall by the Cleveland Browns.
