COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS — Miami had its first big test of the season on the road in College Station, and they came up just short. Mistakes doomed the Hurricanes in a 17-9 loss in Texas.

Here are 10 things we learned from the eight-point loss Saturday night:

Two bad games in a row for Tyler Van Dyke

Much of the Hurricanes’ hopes lie on Van Dyke’s right shoulder, and he could not deliver on Saturday. The third-year sophomore completed 21-of-41 passes for 217 yards with no touchdowns.

Van Dyke didn’t throw an interception in the loss, but he threw a couple of passes that came scarily close to Texas A&M defenders’ hands.
