Malek Young made huge strives throughout the season, going from playing just special teams, to starting at cornerback for the last the final four games. In total, the freshman saw action in 12 games, compiling a total of 23 tackles and one interception.
The speedy corner improved as the season progressed, and his playing time reflected that. Fellow cornerback Sheldrick Redwine was a starter at the beginning of the season, but due to his struggles, Young eventually supplanted him on the depth chart.
His best performance of the season came against North Carolina State.
