Quarterback Jake Garcia expected to make first career start as a Hurricane

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA — One of the Miami Hurricanes’ most highly touted quarterback recruits ever will likely get his first shot as a starter today.

Redshirt freshman Jake Garcia is expected to start at quarterback for the Hurricanes against Virginia on Saturday (12:30 p.m. kickoff), as quarterback Tyler Van Dyke likely sits with an injury he suffered against Duke last week, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Van Dyke did make the trip to Charlottesville for Saturday’s game.

Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said Wednesday that Van Dyke did not practice much early in the week.
