Panthers cut former Miami Hurricanes WR Jacolby George

The Carolina Panthers waived rookie wide receiver Jacolby George on Monday as part of their first wave of moves to trim the roster to 53, the team announced. George was among 17 players waived, with veteran kicker Matthew Wright released in a separate move. The NFL’s cut-down deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

George, who signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in May after a standout career at Miami, appeared in all three preseason games.
