No. 7 Miami Hurricanes humbled in 42-17 loss at No. 1 Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. — We can safely pump the brakes on any extra-lofty expectations for the Miami Hurricanes.

Clemson showed how much distance remains between the class of the Atlantic Coast Conference and Miami, despite UM’s impressive 3-0 start leading into the top-10 showdown on Saturday night.

Behind the star tandem of quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne and a defense that dominated at the line of scrimmage, No. 1 Clemson thwarted the No. 7 Hurricanes, 42-17, in front of 18,885 socially distanced fans at Memorial Stadium, also known as “Death Valley.”

Miami (3-1, 2-1 ACC) has now lost its last three meetings with the Tigers by a combined score of 138-20.
