Miami Hurricanes starting safety Bubba Bolden out for season due to shoulder injury

Miami Hurricanes starting safety Bubba Bolden will miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury he sustained over three weeks ago, UM coach Manny Diaz told reporters Monday afternoon.

Bolden sustained the injury during Miami’s loss to Virginia on Sept. 30 and tried to play through it, starting in UM’s game against North Carolina on Oct. 16 and N.C. State on Oct. 23, but will have an operation on the injured shoulder.

“It’s affecting his tackling and affecting his overall play,” Diaz said. “He can’t be the player out there [he can be] and help us, especially at that position where it’s unfair to have a guy kind of playing with half an arm.
