On Tuesday evening, 2020 DeLand (FL) 4-star ATH Avantae Williams decommitted from the University of Miami.
Williams had been committed to Miami since February 2017 when he and his cousin, Canes early enrollee 5-star RB Lorenzo Lingard, both committed to Miami on the same day. Williams had recently said in interviews that he was solidly committed to The U, but today’s move proves that to be false.
Williams has bounced around in his HS career. He started at DeLand, where his size, skill, and blazing speed made him a top prospect. He then transferred to Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy for the 2017 season, but earned little playing time.
