An anonymous coach criticized Mario Cristobal for his hiring of former Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Josh Gattis in the Athlon Sports college football preview issue. Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported that Rutgers transfer guard Cam Spencer is considering the Miami basketball program.
David Lake of Inside the U and Adam Gorney of Rivals wrote about the anonymous coach that criticized Cristobal stating “No one can really explain why they looked so bad last season…They took a dark horse Heisman quarterback (Tyler Van Dyke) and ruined his game.” Gorney disputed many of the anonymous comments.
