ESPN’s Edward Aschoff explained that the news Miami Hurricanes transfer, Jaelan Phillips will be eligible to play immediately because since he only played in four games in 2018 that will count as his redshirt season. There has been no verification of that.
The rules about which transfers can and cannot play are not entirely clear. Miami safety Bubba Bolden transferred from USC after playing as a Freshman in 2017 before sitting out last season because of a school suspension. Bolden will be eligible to play this fall after essentially redshirting during the 2018 season.
