Chris Lykes career-high 22 points, strong three-point shooting and excellent overall defense led the Miami Hurricanes in their season-opening victory on Friday night. Lykes led all five Miami starters in double figures. Lykes’ previous career high was 19 last season against Virginia.
The Hurricanes got great balance from their starting lineup. Miami was able to overcome the loss of Junior center-forward Dewan Hernandez who is out indefinitely while his eligibility gets sorted out. Hernandez was named in the Adidas FBI corruption trial earlier this week.
Christian Dawkins who was convicted of fraud last month named Hernandez as one of 19 players who he had planned to pay.
