Vanderbilt rose to No. 9 in Sunday's Associated Press Top 25 — its highest ranking since 1937 — overtaking Miami, which slid one spot and is now tied at No. 10 with BYU. The move follows Vandy's 17-10 win over then-No. 15 Missouri to reach 7-1, while Miami handled Stanford but couldn't hold its place in a crowded top tier.

The top six held at No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia and No. 6 Oregon. The Buckeyes received 53 first-place votes; Indiana got 11, and Texas A&M received one.
