The Miami football team fell eight spots in the AP Media Poll and the USA Today Coaches poll despite multiple teams behind them losing. The Hurricanes are 22nd in the AP Poll and 24th in the USA Today Coaches Poll after being ranked 14th and 16th in the preseason. Several teams vaulted in the rankings to pass Miami.
UCLA and ACC Coastal rival Virginia Tech were the biggest movers into the Top 25. The Bruins vaulted 26 spots to move up to 16th and the Hokies advanced 19 places in the rankings and are now 21st.
