Miami football plan was always for Tate Martell’s return for bowl game

Redshirt Sophomore quarterback Tate Martell returned to the Miami football program on Saturday as the Hurricanes practiced for the Independence Bowl against Louisiana Tech in Shreveport on December 26. Martell has two carries for two yards in four games this season. He has moved between QB and wide receiver.

Martell made the move to wide receiver prior to the opener for the 2019 Miami football season against Florida. The former Ohio State QB switched positions after falling to third on the depth chart behind Jarren Williams and N’Kosi Perry prior to playing the Gators.
