In a tweet posted on Memorial Day, former four-star USC defensive tackle signee Jay Toia announced he is leaving the Trojans after one semester in in their program. Toia mentioned the Miami football program is on the shortlist of programs he is considering with Michigan, Utah and UCLA.

The Utes and Trojans have a history of Samoan players on their roster. Toia could speak to Miami safety Bubba Bolden who transferred from USC during the 2019 offseason.
