Miami senior linebacker Zach McCloud’s snaps have been significantly reduced this season. McCloud is one-third of the lauded four-year starter senior linebacking crew for the Miami football team. With Miami increasingly using the striker position more often to combat spread offenses McCloud has only played 21 snaps in 2019.
There has been growing sentiment among several media members for the Miami football team that it would be best for McCloud to redshirt this season with the diminished playing time. The thinking is that if he is not going to get on the field that he would help a young linebacking corps in 2019.
