Jimmy Murphy walked on to the Miami football team in 2017 and earned a scholarship in 2018. Murphy’s touchdown excited his Hurricanes teammates and the fan base with his touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Murphy has been a star on special teams in the last two seasons. Murphy has four tackles each in 2018 and ’19.
With Murphy as part of the coverage teams on kickoff and punt returns, the Hurricanes have been good preventing long kickoff and punt returns. Miami is 48th nationally allowing 18.38 yards per kickoff returns.
