Brown starred for the Miami basketball team the past two years before declaring for the NBA Draft after his Sophomore season last year. Brown missed the final 13 games of the 2017-18 season after needing foot surgery. Brown was joined in the NBA Draft as an early entrant by his former Miami teammate Lonnie Walker.
Walker was selected 18th overall by the San Antonio Spurs after leaving the Miami basketball program following one season in Coral Gables. Brown was selected 42nd overall in the second round by Detroit.
Brown was leading Miami in scoring at the time of his injury last season.
