CORAL GABLES — Wide receiver Isaiah Horton said he had to overcome “maturity errors” during his first year on Miami’s campus.

“I just talked to myself,” Horton said. “I’m like ‘Zay, we’ve got to do better. You’re better than this, what we’re doing. This is not what we came here to do. We’ve got a goal in mind. Get your mind right, and let’s go get it.’ ”

Entering his second year with the Hurricanes, Horton said he has refocused, and has drawn strong reviews as he prepares for his redshirt freshman season.

“Some people need to develop fundamentally, some people need to develop emotionally, some people need to develop psychologically,” Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard said.
