Hurricanes’ Andrew Walters earns fifth All-American honors of the year

The accolades continue to pile up for UM baseball pitcher Andrew Walters, who made his fifth All-American team of the year, earning a first-team selection from D1Baseball.

He’s one of just three players from the Atlantic Coast Conference to make the first-team.

Walters, who finished with 14 saves for the Hurricanes, also earned first-team honors from the NCBWA and Perfect Game. He made the second-team for Collegiate Baseball and the ABCA/Rawlings.

It was a dominant season on the mound for Walters in his first year as the team’s closer. He finished tied for fifth in NCAA in saves and put up a 1.
