Hurricanes add QB Jarren Williams to dazzling Early Signing Period class

Earlier this month when four-star quarterback prospect Jarren Williams committed to the Hurricanes, Miami coach Mark Richt made it clear — competition will always exist for every position, including quarterback.

On Wednesday, Williams officially signed with Miami, adding his name to a position group that includes 13-game starter Malik Rosier and reserves Evan Shirreffs and N’Kosi Perry.

Rated the nation’s No. 7 dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports.com, Williams threw for more than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior at Central Gwinnett High in Georgia. He added another 554 rushing yards and drew interest from the likes of Kentucky, Auburn, Ohio State and Alabama before committing and now signing with the Hurricanes.
