Don Chaney Jr. injury puts dent in Hurricanes’ running-back depth

CORAL GABLES — Miami entered fall training camp with five running backs all challenging for playing time, but after a few weeks of camp, that depth has taken a hit.

Third-year redshirt halfback Don Chaney Jr. suffered an injury, UM coach Mario Cristobal said, bringing Miami down to three healthy scholarship running backs.

“He suffered an injury,” Cristobal said. “There’s no update on it. Hopefully, he’ll be better sooner than later.”

Cristobal did not disclose the nature of Chaney’s injury, but it comes on the heels of true freshman TreVonte’ Citizen’s injury, which Cristobal described as “significant.
