Carl Chester Named to Golden Spikes Watchlist

Carl Chester will be a key piece in the Hurricanes squad this coming season, and has been recognized with many honors before the season. His naming to the preseason watch list for the Golden Spikes is just the latest in the long line awards and recognitions.

The Golden Spikes award is given annually to the best amateur baseball player in the nation. The award is presented by the USA Baseball association in a partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation. Carl Chester was named along with 54 other players on the 55 man watchlist.

Chester batted .336 for the Canes’ last season and will undoubtedly be the mainstay of the outfield this season, as he is the only returning starter in the outfield for the Canes.
