Butch Davis fondly remembers time with Miami football and Orange Bowl

Butch Davis was the defensive line coach for the Miami football team from 1984-88. Davis came to the Hurricanes with Hall of Fame Coach Jimmy Johnson from Oklahoma State. Davis coached tight ends and wide receivers with the Cowboys. He then joined Johnson in Dallas to be those Cowboys DL coach.

Davis spent four seasons as the Cowboys DL coach before becoming the defensive coordinator when another former Miami football coach, Dave Wannstedt was hired by the Chicago Bears as their head coach. Davis was hired by Miami to succeed Johnson’s successor Dennis Erickson as the Hurricanes head coach in 1995.
