Weldon is the second member of his family to play for Miami Head Coach Mark Richt. Weldon’s father Casey was the Heisman Trophy Runner-up in 1991 at Florida State when Richt was the quarterback’s coach. Weldon has thus far been able to keep his spot as the quarterback with Miami football third team offense.
Weldon has seemed to make up for lost time after sitting out a few practices this Spring because of an eye injury. Richt didn’t disclose many stats from the Hurricanes first scrimmage on Saturday night. Weldon played exceptionally well in the final scrimmage of the Spring.
