Rumor: Miami Heat interested in Derrick Williams

The Miami Heat may be interested in adding former New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams, reports ESPN’s Ian Begley.

Miami is one of the teams that has expressed in free agent forward Derrick Williams, according to sources.

Williams, 25, had in some ways his most well-rounded season of his five-year career with the Knicks last season. He averaged 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game while shooting 45 percent from the field.

Williams is the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, but hasn’t lived up to his draft position.
